GEA brings together leading federal agencies to co-host International Geothermal Showcase

WASHINGTON, D.C. - 
Next week,  the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) will co-host the International Geothermal Energy Showcase with influential U.S. Government agencies including the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM). 7,000 workers strike at Brazil’s Amazon dam project

BRASILIA, Brazil - 
Some 7,000 workers at a contested dam in Brazil's Amazon region went on strike Monday demanding better working conditions, the consortium in charge of the project said.

The Belo Monte consortium said many workers joined the strike because labor unions erected barricades on the road leading to the site, located near the town of Altamira on the Xingu River in the northern Brazilian state of Para.

Britain keen to tap Iceland’s energy reserves: minister

Low Carbon Heat Plans Revealed

GDF SUEZ and International Power (70% owned by GDF SUEZ) announce that IPR-GDF SUEZ Asia, together with project partners PT Supreme Energy and Sumitomo Corporation, has signed 30-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for two 220MW geothermal projects with PLN, the state-owned utility of Indonesia. S. Korea’s Doosan wins $1.3 bn order from India

South Korea's Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction said Monday it has won a 1.5 trillion won ($ 1.3 billion) deal to build industrial boilers for India's state-run energy firm.

Under the agreement with India's National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Doosan will build five boilers for two NTPC power plants in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, Doosan said.
